Every week brings fresh new horrors. We keep praying and hoping for an end to the carnage, doing all we can in the meantime to support and be the best voice we can possibly be. There are opportunities for all of us to play a role, and that is what we at MWA are trying to do. We start this newsletter with a feature on a brave, prominent woman that has done the same. We salute her, and her noble stance. Eid al-Adha Mubarak! We are delighted to share our Eid al-Adha video with you below. While it is a belated one given when it fell (between our newsletters!) nonetheless, we pray you had a wonderful and joyous Eid with your family and friends. While the hearts are pained on account of Gaza, we nonetheless celebrate that which Allah (SWT) has ordained for us to celebrate, his two blessed Eids. International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict. We marked this important international Day. A poignant one given the context of Gaza and the crimes that continue to be committed against our women and sisters there. World Refugee Day. We also marked World Refugee Day. This World Refugee Day the number of people Forced To Flee their homes now stands at the highest level since records began. We shared some important reflections on this on our social media, which we also share with you below. What the War on Gaza means for babies. There are barely any words to communicate our pain, but with the power of numbers, we attempt to do so. Balancing Body and Soul: A Holistic Look at Health in Islam: On a more positive note, we end with sharing an important article on our website which - in these challenging times - gives us a roadmap for how to go after looking after ourselves. We hope you enjoy reading this piece and find it beneficial, insha Allah! — In all our events and activities, we hope that you can join in and celebrate with us the strength that comes from supporting each other. Where Olive Trees Weep MWA was honoured to support the community screening of Dr. Gabor Maté’s documentary “Where the Olive Trees Weep” held on Monday evening at Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown, organised by the Shifa Project.
